Shortlists revealed for 2018 BPG radio awards

Ed Miliband and Geoff Lloyd are among the nominees for the first ever podcast category at the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards.

The pair’s Reasons To Be Cheerful podcast goes up against Remainiacs, Hip Hop Saved My Life and The Butterfly Effect when the awards are handed out next month in London.

The BPG radio broadcaster of the year shortlist features 1Xtra’s A. Dot, Radio 4’s Andy Hamilton, 5 live’s Emma Barnett and Frank Skinner from Absolute Radio.

Two Radio 4 programmes – Hilary Mantel’s The Reith Lectures and Living with the Gods with Neil MacGregor – are nominated for the Radio Programme of the Year prize, against Steve Lamacq’s show on 6 Music and Classic FM’s Saturday Night At The Movies with Andrew Collins.

The Broadcasting Press Guild Award winners are chosen by journalists who write about TV and radio. This year’s event is the 44th, and is being held at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on Friday 16th March.
