St George's church in Chorley.

The switch on co-incides with Chorley's christmas lights switch on on 24th nov apparently. Should be a good night if you're in the area.

Good news for chorleyfm....I hope a community platform works better for you...The station had a great following....

I know some people will hate this but dont you think a local groups should try for community and if it works out try for a local bid ...its a hell of a big jump from rsl to full time local station...
The people who helped build a station get pushed to the side and money people take over.

This way the station is not a shadow of its rsl past.

Good luck chorleyfm

At the risk of sounding pesamistic, is there really much need for Chorley FM when the new Preston, Chorley and Leyland service is about to be announced? These boroughs are so close together, they aren't all that seperate in identity at all.

C'mon, Chorley is a small Lancashire town, albeit quite afluent in some areas, can anyone really see the need for such a station when another local station is going to open within a year of this one?

Talk about saturating the market..... This one is going to be so underwater, it'll drown before long! Don't Ofcom have a map of the area, to see just what they've done?

Don't confuse me with Zorp Furbal

If I remember rightly Chorley FM is a community licence aimed specifically at the Gay and Transgender community of Chorley. I think the new Preston, Chorley, Leyland licence will have a wider appeal and I would be surprised if they covered this market at all.

They are two different types of station though. One is a commercial station along the likes of Wish and Tower, the other a volunteer run community station along the lines of The Eye in leicestershire.

This is where their transmitter is located, 25 watts from the top of there should get out quite nicely I would have thought

Can't hear it at all in Skelmersdale. (9 miles from chorley)

I could hear the last RSL on 87.9.

are the problems now behind them

I found this on another site

"We're looking for somebody, prefably with a solid background in radio who is interested in helping with the day to day running of our community radio station.

You'll be working with a dedicated team of volunters and undertaking every aspects of radio work! this is an ideal opportunity for somebody wanting to stay in/get back into radio but finding doors closed. "

Where's that listed, Deebeeo? I can't see it on Media UK, the cma-l discussion list or Chorley FM's own site.

Due to lack of funds they are un able to pay anybody at all, so the bloke acting as PC had to get a job to pay his way. So they are looking for sombody to do that. As its un-paid though they will be hard pressed.
