The British Forces Broadcasting Service is set to shut down Radio 2, and make make substantial cuts to their workforce of over 150 journalists, RadioToday.co.uk has learnt.
In a statement from the military broadcaster, it was confirmed that staff are being consulted about a proposed restructure. A decision on the job losses is scheduled for December 15th. "If the proposals go through up to 30 broadcasting staff are likely to be made redundant."
One reader told us a third of all journalists at the networks are having to reapply for their jobs.
BFBS is thought to be trying to find ways to re-appear on digital radio multiplexes in the UK, after a month-long trial earlier this year.
