Global Radio, owners of GWR Bristol, has reacted angrily to the Yellow Card that the media regulator handed their station for operating outside the music obligations of its Format.
In a statement, Global Radio said: “GWR Bristol was asked to supply music logs to OFCOM by today, Friday 13th March. The requested information was supplied by yesterday, 12th March. Ofcom’s decision was made without reference to either the station, or by talking to its owners, Global Radio.
“This is an extraordinary way for a regulator to behave by issuing a judgement before a deadline has passed,” they added. “We do not accept this finding, and are considering our position”
Global continues its national expansion of the Heart brand on Monday 23 March, rebranding twelve former GCap stations, this follows nine others that were rebranded on the 5 January.
The 12 stations are: GWR Wiltshire, GWR Bristol, GWR Bath, Gemini FM in Torbay and Exeter, Plymouth Sound, Orchard FM, Lantern FM, South Hams Radio, Fox FM in Oxford, Severn Sound and 2-Ten FM in Reading.
A further nine GCap stations are due to rebrand this year.
