The end of High Wycombe's Mix 107 at 10am today marks the 10th local commercial radio station to close in recent years.
The station launched 16 years ago as 1170 AM in 1993, and later changed its name to Swan FM after being awarded an FM licence for High Wycombe. It then became Mix 107 to match sister station Mix 96.
The closure follows the recent takeover of owner The Local Radio Company by UKRD.
A news story on the station's website says: "Plans HAD been made to co-locate Mix107 with its sister station in Aylesbury but UKRD has decided to close the station and hand the licence back to Ofcom instead.
"Just one of the existing on-air team is staying within TLRC, transfering to one of its remaining stations."
The station closure at exactly 10am cut off the final cheers of the presenters in the studio. Listen here.
