The Bauer Big City Network has secured exclusive live broadcast rights to one of 2009’s biggest music events: U2’s 360° Tour. On 20th August the network will devote over five hours of airtime to the band.
The broadcast will include two hours of live, uninterrupted coverage of U2’s Sheffield Don Valley Stadium gig on air and online. In addition to the live, cross-network event programming, 96.3 Radio Aire will build up to the gig by creating a dedicated ‘U2 360° Tour’ online microsite, U2 themed programming strands and on-air promotions and competitions.
Anthony Gay, Regional Programming Director for 96.3 Radio Aire, said: “We are delighted to have secured this sought-after opportunity to host this major live cross-network broadcast. U2 are the world’s biggest band and we are sure our multi-platform approach and bespoke programming plans will deliver a true ‘appointment to listen’ music event for thousands of our listeners.”
