Absolute Radio is the first radio station in Europe to launch iTunes Tagging on the iPod Nano.

The new service was announced on-air this morning, which will let listeners tag current playing songs ready to purchase later.

The service will launch in London only via the station's 105.8FM service, via a deal with Unique Interactive and Jump2Go.

Once a song is tagged, the option to purchase the song is offered during the next sync with iTunes.

“We were extremely pleased to see Apple announce the arrival of an FM tuner in the latest iPod nano and it’s now even more welcome having implemented iTunes Tagging with the team at One Golden Square Labs, who continue to be at the forefront of technology.” said Simon Blackmore, Group Operations Director, UBC Media Group.

UBC previously attempted a consumer on-the-go song tagging/purchasing service with CLIQ, but CEO Simon Cole is more confident of this new service: "The use of radio as a prompt to purchase for music has been a vision of ours for the last three years. I'm really pleased to see much of the work we have put into developing IP in this area coming to fruition in our work with Absolute."
