Former BBC Radio Sheffield presenter Gareth Evans has submitted a claim for breach of contract after being let go by the station earlier this year.

Gareth left after the station said a row with the local council over his wife's parking ticket breached the BBC's code of conduct.

Claims Gareth could sue the BBC and end up in court are reported in the local Sheffield newspaper The Star, which says his solicitors, Browne Jacobson of Nottingham, have written to station bosses demanding a settlement.

Alan Radford, of Browne Jacobson, told the newspaper: "Gareth Evans does not accept he has breached the code or his obligation to the BBC and is pursuing a claim. His contract had many months to run.

"We will be asking the BBC to settle, but the matter could go to court."

The ticket row came about after Evans’ pregnant wife parked their Land Rover over two lines in a car park last November. His appeal claimed his wife was forced to use two bays to ensure she could get back in the car.
