Apple and Intel invest in PURE

Imagination Technologies, the name behind the PURE digital radio sets and which last week had Apple come along and buy a Stake, has also seen Intel Corporation take an extra million shares in the company.

A [link=http://onegoldensquare.com/2008/12/apple-buys-stake-in-imigination-technologies/]blog[/link] post by the management team at Absolute Radio first alerted us to the news, but follow-up reports suggest we shouldn't be too excited at any possibility that Apple are looking at including any kind of digital radio in the iPhone or iPod Touch.
But if both Intel and Apple are investing in a company which has the Digital Radio market covered, maybe they all have a bigger plan for DAB after all. Or maybe they are more interested in the 3G iPhone's graphics chips or PSP 2 chip for Sony, which Imagination also makes.
Intel owns almost seven million Imagination shares and said in a statement to the London Stock Exchange that it "reserves the right to announce an offer or a possible offer to acquire the shares in Imagination Technologies Group which it does not already own and/or to take any other action which would otherwise be restricted under Rule 2.8 of the City Code within six months from the date of this announcement if there is a material change in circumstances or in [certain events]".
