Celador buys Andover and Newbury Sound

Celador Radio is continuing its purchasing spree by acquiring Andover Sound and Newbury Sound.

Management at Celador, owners of The Breeze, says no immediate changes are planned to the existing operations.

Ian Axton, Chairman and founder of the stations said: “I’ve taken great pride in watching Andover Sound and Newbury Sound grow into solid businesses by putting the communities they serve at the heart of everything they do. Now the stations are part of the UK’s fastest growing radio group, I’m sure there’s even more success ahead’.

Andover Sound launched on May 26th 2008, having won a licence from Ofcom in July 2006 with Tindle Radio as its main backer. It has a TSA of 80,000.

Newbury Sound was launched in October 2009 having been bought by Andover Sound earlier that year. Previously it was known as Kick FM and fully owned by Tindle Radio since its launch in 2000.

Andover Sound can be heard on 106.4 MHZ whilst Newbury Sound broadcasts on 105.6 MHz in Newbury and 107.4 MHz Hungerford.

Both stations would be an ideal northern extension to Celador’s The Breeze brand, but the company says there are no immediate changes planned.
