Steve White joins Hallam FM for drive

Former BBC Radio Sheffield presenter Steve White has switched to the city’s commercial station Hallam FM as the new host of afternoon drivetime.

Barnsley-born Steve makes a return to Herries Road, 20 years after being invited in to co-present the breakfast show with Dave Kilner at the age of 10.

Bauer covers Coldplay in Sunderland

Twenty Bauer Radio stations are to broadcast a live performance from Coldplay and interview with the band next month.

The June 7th Mylo Xyloto tour gig at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light will air during an In:Demand evening show special on 14th June, with bespoke versions of band interviews made for English and Scottish audiences.

Real takes over Tramlines from Hallam FM

Real Radio Yorkshire has announced a deal to partner with Sheffield’s Tramlines Festival after rival station Hallam FM said it was pulling of a similar event.

The Bauer station said last week the Tramlines was getting too big, with attendance at the city centre event up five times last year compared with 2009.

Matt Foister joins Trax FM for breakfast

Former Heart and Galaxy presenter Matt Foister has joined Lincs FM group’s Doncaster-based Trax FM to do the breakfast show.

Matt’s moved back to Yorkshire after three years on Heart Breakfast in Suffolk – before that he worked at stations including Hallam FM, Radio Aire, TFM, Galaxy Manchester and Galaxy Yorkshire.

Steps’ Lisa joins UK radio duo in Dubai

Dubai-based Steps singer Lisa Scott-Lee is joining the drivetime team at one of the city’s radio stations.

She’s teaming up with former GCap presenters Tom Bushell and Dan Marsh on the Sunday to Thursday 4-8pm slot on Dubai 92 in the UAE.

Hallam FM help police tackle car thefts

Bauer station Hallam FM has announced a partnership with South Yorkshire Police that will see the broadcast of information about stolen vehicles within minutes of the report being received by officers.

The police force’s control room will pass details through to the studios with presenters reporting the registration numbers and make and colour of cars to encourage listeners to spot them and ring in.

Bauer stations put on panto promotion

Twelve of Bauer Radio’s ‘Place Portfolio’ stations are promoting local pantomimes and Sainsburys as part of one of the group’s first ever ‘product placement’ promotions.

Stations including Magic 105.4, Forth, Clyde, Key, Metro and Hallam will source content from the pantomimes to be used on air as well as give away trips to the theatre shows and vouchers to spend in the supermarket.

Owen Ryan to be new PD at Hallam FM

Former Gcap and Emap programmer Owen Ryan is returning to the UK from Australia to take up the role of Programme Director of Bauer’s Hallam FM and Magic AM.

He’ll replace Anthony Gay who leaves the station to join Reelworld productions and Pure Tonic Media.

Anthony Gay leaves Bauer after 17 years

Anthony Gay, regional programming director of Bauer Radio Yorkshire and Station Director Radio Aire Leeds and Hallam FM Sheffield is leaving the company after 17 years.

He’ll take up a new position as EU Director at jingle company Reelworld from December 5th.

Bauer station Hallam FM has launched a month-long campaign to promote its patch and highlight the local content it offers to listeners.

We’re told the ‘Made in South Yorkshire September’ promotion is about delivering ‘longer listening, increased talkability and enhanced commercial opportunities.’

Bauer Radio Development Director Iain Clasper has left the radio industry after nearly 30 years to become MD of a flag and marketing materials firm.

He’s previously worked for stations including Juice, Red Dragon, Hallam and Viking.
