Two presenters at Gator Country 101.9 in Lee County, Southwest Florida have been suspended indefinitely after an April Fools joke.

Global Radio has won seven out of their 15 Arqiva Award nominations, plus a Gold Award for Classic FM.
Global’s newly acquired group GMG Radio (Global Radio Stations LTD) won three, as did Absolute Radio and JACK fm Oxfordshire.
JACKfm Oxfordshire goes back to Bastion
Oxfordshire’s 106 JACKfm is sending two presenters to Afghanistan for a series of special programmes, 18 months on from a previous visit to the country by the station.

Jack arrived this morning after a week of idents on the frequency suggesting that “a fresh breeze is coming”.
Global leads Arqivas nomination shortlists
Global Radio has 15 nominations for this year’s Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards, including seven for Capital FM which goes up against Absolute Radio and Bauer’s Radio City 96.7 for Station of the Year.
Bauer has 13 nominations and Absolute has 11, while GMG Radio receives seven nominations.
Celador buys Swindon More Radio licence
Celador Radio has bought the FM local radio licence for Swindon from More Radio Ltd, taking the number of licences owned by the group to 14.
The station originally launched as Brunel FM in September 2006 by TLRC and has since been known as TotalStar and More Radio.
Fire knocks off Jack FM and BBC Bristol
A suspected arson attack this morning at a transmitter site in Bristol has meant the BBC local radio station for the city and Jack FM have both been off the air.
Cables connecting transmission equipment to aerials were badly damaged in the blaze at the site on East Dundry Lane in the south of Bristol.
Winners of IRN News Awards 2012 revealed
Bauer and GMG Radio have won three awards each at this year’s IRN News Awards, with Orion Media’s stations picking up two and Jack FM Oxfordshire taking the other.
Key 103 Head of News John Pickford was honoured with a special IRN Gold Award, recognising more than three decades as a journalist.
OXIS Media to represent Jack FM in Europe
The company which owns Oxford radio stations Jack FM and Glide FM has launched a new consultancy which will manage the Jack FM brand across the UK and Europe on behalf of owners Sparknet.
OXIS Media will take over consultancy work from ARI (Absolute Radio International), which has been exclusively engaged to manage national station Absolute Radio since 2008.
Andover and Newbury Sound to become Breeze
Celdaor Radio has announced plans to change the names of Andover Sound and Newbury Sound to The Breeze next month.
The group bought the two licences last summer, and says it has been making gradual changes to output since then ahead of the rebrand on 2nd April.

The girls dressed up in bikinis and selected a “token bloke” to tell people to wrap their water pipes up with lagging to avoid freezing.
Radio sausage is best banger in the East
Noddy Holder has named the Hertbeat Banger as the best sausage in the East, named many years ago after Hertbeat FM.
The station has since changed its name to JACK fm but the sausage remains to be made by a butcher in Stevenage.

The Celador-owned station on the South Coast took swift action to deal with initial contact from a listener about the material, leading the regulator not to uphold a complaint.

First Radio Sales has announced a new national sponsorship and promotions solution which it says will reach an audience of 3 million adults across 50 local radio stations.

Station of the Year for Classic FM
The Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards 2011 have taken place in London with numerous awards given to Absolute Radio, GMG Radio, Jack FM Oxfordshire amongst many more.
Global Radio’s Classic FM took home the Station of the Year for 1m, Smooth Radio’s David Kid Jensen was awarded Lifetime Achievement Award and Bauer Media’s Dee Ford was given the Arqiva Gold.
Bam Bam launches Jack FM South Coast
Celador Radio’s The Coast regional station has re-launched as Jack FM today, following approval from Ofcom for a format change to play rock music.
Former Capital and Kiss presenter Bam Bam was the first presenter on-air at 6am after six hours of non-stop music overnight after The Coast closed down.

Next month, the UK’s getting its fourth Jack FM station as Solent regional station The Coast 106 flips to a classic rock format and changes its name to match its Celador sister station in Bristol.

Jack FM to replace The Coast 106
Celador Radio’s The Coast regional station in Solent is to be rebranded as Jack FM, following approval from Ofcom for a format change to play rock music.
Former Capital and Kiss presenter Bam Bam will do breakfast on the station when it relaunches on 4 July 2011.
