The June 7th Mylo Xyloto tour gig at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light will air during an In:Demand evening show special on 14th June, with bespoke versions of band interviews made for English and Scottish audiences.
Global leads Arqivas nomination shortlists
Global Radio has 15 nominations for this year’s Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards, including seven for Capital FM which goes up against Absolute Radio and Bauer’s Radio City 96.7 for Station of the Year.
Bauer has 13 nominations and Absolute has 11, while GMG Radio receives seven nominations.
Winners of IRN News Awards 2012 revealed
Bauer and GMG Radio have won three awards each at this year’s IRN News Awards, with Orion Media’s stations picking up two and Jack FM Oxfordshire taking the other.
Key 103 Head of News John Pickford was honoured with a special IRN Gold Award, recognising more than three decades as a journalist.
James Whale launches podcast debates
LBC presenter James Whale is recording a series of free discussion show podcasts, which he says he hopes will help provide a cure for political apathy in the UK.
The 30-minute programmes are being produced by Wise Buddah, whose talent division manage the talk show presenter.

GMG Radio news teams and reporters have received 8 nominations for this year’s commercial radio news awards.
It comes just a fortnight after the group announced plans to scale back its news operation with redundancies likely across their regional stations.
Matt Foister joins Trax FM for breakfast
Former Heart and Galaxy presenter Matt Foister has joined Lincs FM group’s Doncaster-based Trax FM to do the breakfast show.
Matt’s moved back to Yorkshire after three years on Heart Breakfast in Suffolk – before that he worked at stations including Hallam FM, Radio Aire, TFM, Galaxy Manchester and Galaxy Yorkshire.
JK and Lucy join Heart South Coast
Global Radio have announced JK and Lucy are to take over the breakfast show on Fareham-based Heart South Coast from next Monday.
JK has been one half of ‘JK and Joel’ for many years – and Lucy was most recently co-presenting Bauer’s network evening show ‘In Demand’ with Alex James.
Bauer stations put on panto promotion
Twelve of Bauer Radio’s ‘Place Portfolio’ stations are promoting local pantomimes and Sainsburys as part of one of the group’s first ever ‘product placement’ promotions.
Stations including Magic 105.4, Forth, Clyde, Key, Metro and Hallam will source content from the pantomimes to be used on air as well as give away trips to the theatre shows and vouchers to spend in the supermarket.
Rich Williams takes over Aire breakfast
Bauer’s Radio Aire in Leeds has a new breakfast presenter as local lad Rich Williams takes over from JK and Joel.
He’s been with the station for the last 9 years having started out on the Street Team and progressed to presenter of the drivetime show.
Radio Aire celebrates its 30th birthday

BAUER: Highest reach for Kiss and Magic
The Magic and Kiss networks are giving Bauer Media much to celebrate this quarter as the latest RAJAR results give both brands their highest ever reach.
Magic 105.4 London is the most listened to music station in London, with only Radio 4 ahead, whilst Kiss gets its highest ever reach.
McMorrow swaps Bauer's City for Aire
Radio City 96.7 Programme Controller Euan McMorrow is moving to Bauer’s Leeds station Radio Aire next month to take up the role of Programme Director.
Euan’s previous stations include Kerrang and Key 103, and he was named Programmer of the Year at last year’s Sony Awards.
Radio Aire announces free music gig
Bauer’s Leeds station Radio Aire has announced details of what it says is the UK’s biggest free outdoor pop event, the Party in the Park.
Organised in conjunction with Leeds City Council, the first names to be confirmed for the gig on 31 July are Jessie J, Jay Sean, Tinchy Stryder and Example.
