SAGA 105.2 founder steps down

Norman Quirk, founding managing director at Glasgow's SAGA 105.2 is stepping down from his position and leaving the station ahead of the official take-over by GMG Radio. "Now is an appropriate time to pass on the baton," he said, with GMG set to take control at the end of the month.

He told the Evening Times newspaper: "I have been proud to work with a great bunch of people in building up a highly successful radio station – one which has increased listener numbers every single quarter since it began. The last three years have been hugely exciting and satisfying but I think now is an appropriate time to pass on the baton.

"It goes without saying that I wish the staff every continued success."

GMG intends to re-brand the Saga stations, to a name yet to be announced, after buying the radio assets of SAGA Group in December 2006.
