Tindle Chairman Retires

Peter Funk is to retire as co-chairman of Tindle Radio as of April 1st, the latest high-profile departure from the group in recent months.

The group, which owns and operates 12 independent radio stations in the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Channel Islands, announced the departure of founding director Kevin Stewart and group programme director Mark Frankin in January.
Funk joined Tindle Radio in 2006 following the retirement of Robert Stiby. During his time as chairman, the group has undergone a period of considerable growth and organisational consolidation.
On his retirement, Funk said: “As I near my 70th birthday it is time to spend more time with my other passions. We have a great management team in place and we are achieving all of the financial targets we set for ourselves. ”
Brian Doel has been Co-Chairman of Tindle Radio with Funk and he will now take over as Chairman. Doel is also the Group Managing Director of Tindle Newspapers. Commenting on Funk's departure, he said: “Tindle Radio is now stronger than ever and we would like to thank Peter for the hard work and guidance he has given to the company for the past two years.”
Tindle Radio is owned by Sir Ray Tindle, who also owns the 230-title Tindle Newspapers Group.
