Wise Buddah appoints Willis

Independent production company Wise Buddah Creative has appointed Simon Willis as its new Head Of Content.

The former Radio 1 producer and Plymouth Sound programmer controller will be tasked with growing the content production department.

Dave Holt, Joint Managing Director at Wise Buddah Creative, says Simon’s appointment “signifies the next step of Wise Buddah’s strategy toward content production, coupled with our recent growth in production across both the radio and branded markets”.

“We’re thrilled to have Simon on board at such an exciting time for the company,” he adds. “We’ve spent a long time planning our next move in this area and Simon has the skills and experience to grow the department.”

In 2002 Simon joined BBC TV Entertainment where he produced shows including The Generation Game. In 2004 he teamed up with Jamie Oliver to become a founding executive of Fresh One Productions. After a spell working for Sony in the US, Simon became Head Of Worldwide Programming for WPP’s Mindshare, with a remit to create and produce digital and TV programmes for their clients.

Simon Willis says: “Having produced radio shows and TV programmes, created digital campaigns and devised content for brands, Wise Buddah is the perfect environment for me to combine my skills and work with a very talented team to create a truly multi-platform production business.”

Simon’s appointment follows the recent launch of Wise Buddah’s Manchester hub to service the BBC’s new Salford Quays base, and two major production commissions for the company, BBC Radio 2’s Weekend Wogan show, and the Weekend Breakfast With Nemone show for BBC 6Music.
