Xfm Scotland hires SMG boss

Alan Gibson has made the move from SMG to join GCap Media as managing director of Xfm Scotland. Alan had been with SMG for 10 years, responsible for developing and managing the
regional sales. His new role will also give him additional responsibility for other GCap brands.

Commenting on his appointment, Alan said: “I am very excited to be working for GCap Media and helping to drive its Scottish portfolio forward. Xfm Scotland is such a tremendous brand – at the forefront of the music scene in Scotland. We have fantastic presenters, great music and impactful commercial opportunities for the business community in Scotland both on air and on-line. Radio is the perfect platform to capitalise on the current resurgence that live music is undergoing and I am looking forward to working with everyone at Xfm to continue to build on the success of the station in Scotland.”

Nick Davidson Managing Director of the Xfm Network commented on the appointment…
“I'm delighted to announce Alan's appointment as MD Scotland. His commercial background with SMG and his in depth experience of the media market in Scotland make him the ideal person for the role. Alan's leadership and vision matches that of GCap’s for this important market and for Xfm Scotland's own ambitions, namely to be the number one destination for new music. 2007 already bears the hallmarks of being an important year with significant breakthroughs in content and high profile partnerships across the XFM network and I'm very happy we have the best team in place to achieve our ambitions.”

In addition, Xfm Scotland have just launched a new promotion named 'RockNess', which will be a live outdoor music concert on Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th June just outside the village of Dores, four miles south-west of Inverness, and will feature exclusive Scottish festival performances by The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk and Groove Armada… plus over 60 other acts to be announced by the station.
