Planet Rock rebrands as Planet Zeppelin

In a month-long promotion to celebrate the re-issues of Led Zeppelin’s first three classic albums plus companion disc, Planet Rock will be known as Planet Zeppelin.

The Bauer Media station will dedicate a series of special programming including a two hour exclusive Jimmy Page ‘My Planet Rocks’ interview special.

Music and Content Director for Planet Rock, Ric Blaxill said “As one of the most successful, innovative and influential rock bands in history, Led Zeppelin are pivotal to our playlist and core listenership. We’ve packed June with exclusive multi-platform content to drive listening and engagement across traditional and digital streams into 2014”

The interview with Jimmy Page will play out on air on 1st June and will be available to view on demand via Planet Rock’s YouTube channel. Zeppelin’s new re-issues take over ‘Planet Rock Plays It In Full’ each Monday from 11pm throughout June, a feature which plays classic rock albums in their entirety with no interruptions, jingles or presenters between the songs.

Also, Led Zeppelin cover versions will be played in DJ Wyatt’s ‘Cover Up’ show each week day just after 1pm and in an ongoing special named ‘Unlock the Led’ which will see Planet Rock will play 100 different Zeppelin songs across the station’s output throughout the whole of June. To celebrate the end of Planet Zeppelin there will be a vote to find their best album of all time as voted by Planet Rock listeners.
