It's BBC Radio Cymru's Big Day of Summer

BBC Radio Cymru is celebrating the new season by marking today as “BBC Radio Cymru’s Big Day of Summer”.

The station is broadcasting live from various locations across Wales, taking its operations on tour today.

A host of special guests and interviews will be featured on the programmes throughout the day, including performances by Gwibdaith Hen Frân and Ywain Gwynedd from Blaenau Ffestiniog. Presenter Tommo will be in Porthmadog during the day before joining Tudur Owen on air, and Geraint Lloyd will be joining Shân Cothi in Lampeter in the morning, before traveling north, gathering interviews along the way, and closing the day with his programme from the studio in Bangor.

Shân Cothi, one of the day’s presenters, says: “It is a great opportunity for everyone to get a flavour of Radio Cymru’s programmes, and when could be better to look forward to the summer than the day before the Summer Solstice? There’ll be a warm welcome for everyone to come and join us in Lampeter and to share in the summer fun on Radio Cymru!”

During the Big Summer, Radio Cymru will be travelling to venues and events across Wales, including the Top of Town Festival in Ruthin, Tafwyl in Cardiff, the Royal Welsh Show in Llanelwedd, the Machynlleth Carnival, Llanelli for the National Eisteddfod in Carmarthenshire, the Anglesey Show and many others. The Giant Radio will also be on the road giving people an opportunity to listen to Radio Cymru, to take selfies and join in via social media sites using the hashtags #RadioFAWR and #HafMAWR.
