Unforgettable show extends to Manchester

BBC Radio Lancashire’s 30s to 60s music show Unforgettable is starting on BBC Radio Manchester this evening.

The show, which plays requests each Sunday afternoon live in Lancashire, will not be a repeat or syndicated show, but a separate live show made just for Manchester.

Presenter Gerald Jackson started the show originally on Radio Manchester (GMR) from 2000 to 2003, then took a break before re-appearing on Radio Lancashire in 2007. He told RadioToday: “Delighted that the show is returning to its original home on BBC Radio Manchester and we’ve responded directly to the wishes of the audience thanks to the ‘phone in that Kate (editor Kate Squire) did a few weeks ago. It’s also a request programme, so I’m looking forward to getting plenty of suggestion for musical memories and nostalgia every week.”

The programmes web page says it plays “big bands, ballads, top singers, songs and stars from the 30s to the 60s.”

Gerald has awarded outstanding contribution to BBC Local Radio in the Gillards last year.
