Russ Williams ends daily Absolute Radio show

After more than twenty years broadcasting from One Golden Square, Russ Williams is leaving Absolute Radio’s daytime line-up this summer.

But he’s staying on for a weekend show – as he continues to host Rock N Roll Football on Saturdays.

His final daily 10m till 1pm show will be on the morning of Friday 29th May. Russ has been on-air through some of the most defining moments of the last three decades; from the death of Diana to 9/11 and the London bombings.

Tony Moorey, Content Director – Absolute Radio said: “During his 22 years at One Golden Square, Russ has been decorated with countless Sony Radio Awards and was also inducted into the Radio Academy Hall of Fame in 2013. We would like to thank him for his extraordinary contribution and look forward to him continuing to present Rock N Roll Football on Saturday afternoons when the new season starts in August.”

Russ Williams adds: “I’ve had 22 wonderful years broadcasting from Golden Square – 17 of them on my morning show. I will miss it and will miss my audience and colleagues tremendously, but I decided last year that I wanted to pursue other radio opportunities whilst continuing to present Football.”

Absolute Radio intends to announce the new daytime line-up in May.
