Chris Bryant MP booked for RadioCentre conference

Labour’s Shadow Culture Secretary, Chris Bryant MP, is the latest speaker to be unveiled for Radiocentre’s new conference on July 8th.

Chris joins Tony Blair’s former Director of Communications and Strategy, Alastair Campbell, who’ll also speak at the new venue of Bounce in Holborn.

The key-note speech by Chris Bryant will be looking at the media landscape and is expected to touch on topics such as the importance of local media, as well as the future of the BBC. Speaking recently Bryant said calls for licence fee non-payment to be decriminalised ahead of BBC Charter renewal are in danger of “mutilating” the corporation.

The Labour MP said plans to decriminalise non-payment should be discussed as part of the wider Charter renewal process alongside other issues such as the cost of free licences for over-75s.

The Radiocentre conference will be opened by Chief Executive Siobhan Kenny, with the unveiling of a fresh new identity and direction for the trade body as it evolves.

Confirmed speakers include Richard Huntington, Chief Strategy Officer at Saatchi & Saatchi; Karen Gray, Director of Brand and Marketing Communications at Homebase; Pippa Glucklich, CEO of Starcom MediaVest UK; Jason Berry, Creative Director at J.Walter Thompson and Guy Phillipson, CEO of the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB).

The new conference is this year is being opened up to a broader audience including advertisers, agencies and digital players and will be followed by the annual Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards taking place in the evening at the Roundhouse in North London.

The conference is free to attend, but attendees must book a place here.
