Radio X confirmed in single Chris Moyles tweet

We are being drip-fed information on the worst kept secret in radio today, as Chris Moyles tweets a station name and launch date.

A simple note saying “RADIO X MONDAY 21ST SEPT 06:30” was posted at 8pm, nine hours after his YouTube teaser suggesting he was back on the radio this year.

The Sun reporter Dan Wootton has also confirmed the news, saying Chris’ first newspaper interview in four years will confirm his return to breakfast radio.

The tweet means XFM is being replaced by Radio X on September 21st and Chris Moyles will indeed be replacing Jon Holmes.

We are expecting full details on the new Radio X from Global tomorrow, after an email was sent to all staff at 7.45pm saying there will be more announcements in the morning.

Global founder and executive president told staff: “We’re delighted we can bring an end to the rumours and finally confirm that we’re launching a brand new station – Radio X – in just two weeks’ time and that Chris Moyles is making a welcome return to radio and he’s chosen to join Global and Radio X to do it. Radio X will replace XFM. We have a seriously exciting line up, music proposition and lots more, putting this up there as one of the most exciting station launches we’ve ever done.”

It's easy to put travel news on your radio station, from £25 a month for online stations. See for details and same day set up.
