UKRD Group sells Star Radio Cambridge

UKRD Group has sold Star Radio Cambridge to Mid Anglia Media Limited.

Mid Anglia is owned by local entrepreneur, Tony Sayer, and the deal was completed over the Christmas and New Year period and is effective from 1st January.

Tony is a director of local community station Cambridge 105.

UKRD’s Chief Executive Officer, William Rogers, confirmed the deal to RadioToday and said that whilst he was “sorry to see the station go, I wish Tony and the team every success for the future and I’d like to thank everyone in the past who has worked at the station and done all they can to ensure that proper local radio remained an important part of the media landscape in Cambridge and Ely,” said Rogers.

No details relating to the value of the deal have been released, or where it leaves the DAB multiplex UKRD owns in Cambridge.

UKRD continues to own Star Radio North East along with a number of stations around the UK including Sun FM, Minster FM, 2BR, Spire FM and Pirate FM.
