James Rea appointed Managing Editor at Heart

Global has replaced Gary Stein by adding the role of Heart Managing Editor to James Rea’s responsibilities.

James is already Managing Editor of LBC and Group Head of News for Global but will take on the additional duties in running the biggest commercial radio brand in the UK too.

Staff were told this afternoon in a team meeting from Leicester Square, headed by Richard Park.

Heart’s Managing Editor of four years Gary Stein is leaving Global to spend more time with his family.

Richard Park, Global’s group executive director & director of broadcasting told RadioToday: “James joined Global six years ago and in that time, he has overseen an incredible period of growth and change for LBC. He has helped propel LBC to where it is today – a heavyweight news talk station with two million listeners and 21.5 million hours every week. He is one of the country’s most talented programmers and I’m delighted he’s taking up this new role.”

Love that classic line, “Spend more time with his family” but we all know what that means!
