Afan FM to cover film festival

Local radio station Afan FM is reaching for the stars after being named the official radio station of the Swansea Bay Film Festival 2007. Afan FM will provide coverage of the event to its listeners both on line and on air during the festival that takes place between 29th May and June 10th. The community station is also sponsoring the award for Afan FM Young Film Maker 2007.

The category is open to everyone under 25th. Entrants should submit a DVD of their entry to Afan FM by 4th May 2007. The film can be on any topic but must be between three and 30 minutes long.

Craig Williams, Chairman of Afan FM, said: “Following the success of Swansea bay film festival last year we are proud and excited to be the official radio station of the event.

“Afan FM is also sponsoring the Young Film-Maker award. We hope to encourage local young people to give it a go and enter. Neath Port Talbot has a strong film heritage and it would be great if a local person won.

“We will be covering the festival on air and keeping our listeners up to date with all the latest information.

“The coverage will be part of the excellent range of programmes that Afan FM will broadcast throughout Neath Port Talbot when it launches in April.”

Tim Prosser, festival director, said: “We approached Afan FM as their audience is the same as ours. We want to build on the success of last year — we know that Afan FM can help us do this.

“By being both the official sponsor of the festival and the sponsor of the Afan FM Young Film-Maker award we are proving our commitment to encourage young people to participate in the arts."
