Andi Durrant joins Capital

Galaxy specialist music presenter Andi Durrant is staying with the station as it becomes Capital FM across the UK next month.

He's confirmed he'll be staying on Friday and Saturday nights, although the time slots are moving slightly later – to 11pm-2am on both nights.

The shows will be produced by 'Distorted', the independent production company Andi runs with Nick Riley, the other half of DJ duo Riley and Durrant. We're told the show will showcase the world's best new electronic music from house and trance to drum n bass, breaks and dubstep, support new talent and unsigned music, give an electronic twist to chart hits and give airtime to the more underground side of dance music.

The show – which kicks off on 7 January – will also feature celebrities and pop icons picking their favourite dance tunes, as well as guest mixes.

Andi was the Sony Awards' Music Broadcaster of the Year in 2008, taking the Gold for his show on Galaxy.

Next month the Galaxy stations across England and Scotland are joining the Capital FM network, along with Trent, Ram and Leicester Sound in the East Midlands and Red Dragon FM in South Wales. All will become known as Capital FM, with local opt outs at breakfast and drivetime on weekdays.
