Becky Want and Jo Good to host new Local BBC Radio late show

Details of who will be presenting the new Local BBC Radio all-England late shows have been communicated to some staff via email.

RadioToday can reveal the Sunday to Thursday show will be hosted by Becky Want from Salford, while the Friday and Saturday shows are to be presented by Jo Good from London.

An email sent to Editors earlier this evening confirmed the appointments, with the planned start date aiming to be the week commencing 8th October.

A number of production roles are currently being advertised to support the programmes and presenters.

Becky Want is currently a host at BBC Radio Manchester, whilst Jo Good has been with BBC Radio London for 20 years.

Becky is well known in the Manchester area having worked on local radio since the 1980s. She first worked at Piccadilly and Key 103 before joining the BBC.

Jo started at BBC Southern Counties Radio in Brighton before joining BBC London in 2003. She has presented many shows on the station including Overnight, Breakfast and Lates.

Both have also worked on regional television news programmes.

These are the first presenter announcements made either internally or externally, as the network works towards introducing networked programmes from 2pm weekdays and most of the weekends.

Chris Burns Controller of Local Audio Commissioning told RadioToday: “Late night radio is a special time of day. With Becky and Jo at the helm of these shows, our audiences are in great hands.”
