Carolyn McCall leaves Guardian

Guardian Media Group chief executive Carolyn McCall is leaving the company after 25 years to take on the same position at low-cost airline easyJet.

Carolyn was appointed to the Board in 2000, and made chief executive of GNM in August 2006 influencing the growth of the radio division.

Guardian Media Group owns 13 analogue radio stations around the UK, all of which have been bought or awarded to GMG Radio during her time on the GMG Board.

Whilst no changes are expected in the Group's radio division, one radio source told RadioToday.co.uk this morning: "Her enthusiasm for radio was one of the reasons GMG grew their portfolio, so her replacement's view on radio is expected to influence the future of the radio division."

She will leave in the next few months, during which time an announcement regarding her replacement will be made.
