Delegates at this year’s Community Media Association conference will help the sector celebrate 10 years since the first full-time ‘Access Radio’ licences were issued in the UK.
The event, on Saturday 16th June in Bath, will also feature a keynote speech from the Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries – Ed Vaizey.
Also speaking is Zane Ibrahim, founder of Bush Radio – one of South Africa’s first community radio stations and a man widely regarded as the ‘father of community radio.’
A session in the morning will feature a discussion on community radio’s future in the UK at a time when DCMS gets ready to consult on the regulatory framework for this part of our industry going forward.
There are also sessions on how mobile social media can enhance local content, attracting sponsorship in the current economic climate, fund-raising, and a look at the role of the arts in community media.
CMA Director Jaqui Devereux said: “It’s set to be a really exciting conference, and we’re looking forward to giving the sector a chance to quiz Ed Vaizey. We hope to see as many of you there as we can.”
