Gary Stein joins Heart as Managing Editor

Bauer Media’s Director of Music for the Bauer Place stations in the North of England and Scotland Gary Stein is joining Global Radio.

garysteinGary will take up the position of Managing Editor for Heart London from August.

He’s been with Bauer/Emap for 17 years, with a number of positions including Programme Director of Hallam FM, Programme & Station Director of Key 103, and more recently as Director of Music for Place North.

It was only five months ago that he made the move from Key 103 Station Manager to the group role.

Gary Stein said: “This is an amazing opportunity for me to head one of the greatest radio brands in the country and I look forward to working with the team and helping to ensure Heart 106.2 continues to build on its incredible success.”

A statement from Bauer Media says: “We are sorry that Gary is leaving, but we are proud that Bauer’s deep pool of programming talent continues to be attractive to other broadcasters.”

Meanwhile, Adrian Stewart is to join Global Radio’s Group Programming team, in the newly created role of Head of Programming Development, whilst retaining his responsibility for the Gold network.

Adrian Stewart: “I’ve had the most amazing time at Heart and I am very proud of what we have achieved in London and across the Heart network over the past five years.

“I am very much looking forward to my new role within Global Radio as we enter another exciting period for commercial radio in the UK.”

Richard Park, Global Radio’s Director of Broadcasting, said: “We look forward to welcoming Gary Stein to lead our Heart team in London. His skillset has been crafted over many years in several stations across the country. He is a worthy successor to the highly talented Adrian Stewart who is moving to another exciting role in Global.”
