Geoff Twentyman scores Bristol drivetime

Former Bristol Rovers footballer Geoff Twentyman is taking over drivetime on BBC Radio Bristol, replacing Ben Prater, who’s going to BBC Wiltshire.

Geoff, who currently presents Twentyman Talks Back and Saturday Sport, began his career as a professional footballer making 320 appearances for Bristol Rovers between 1986 and 1993. He began his broadcasting career in 1993 with a six-month contract as a sport journalist for the BBC station.

He said: “I am really flattered to be given the chance to broadcast a show every day in the part of the country that has been my home for over 25 years. I sense I am an adopted Bristolian and I have a huge affinity with BBC Radio Bristol. Covering the day’s news, a huge variety of features, music and of course the chance to interact with the audience – is an awesome prospect.”

Managing Editor of BBC Radio Bristol, Tim Pemberton said: “Geoff is passionate about broadcasting and passionate about the West Country – two qualities that make him the ideal presenter for our drivetime show. We know that our BBC Radio Bristol listeners love listening to Geoff and talking to him and we’re delighted that they will get the chance to do this every weekday afternoon.

“His show will be a must-listen for everyone in Bristol who is as passionate as Geoff about life in our region.”
