Glen Hunt moves to Real Radio NW breakfast

Real Radio North West’s Hometime presenter Glen Hunt is making to move to breakfast, following Sam Walker’s decision to leave the station after nine months.

Glen, who has been with the station for four years and on-air in the North West for 17 years, will join current co-host Lorna Bancroft.

Glen and Lorna used to host the Real Radio afternoon drive show together before Lorna moved to breakfast last year.

Sam only joined the station in April but announced her decision to leave two weeks ago for mid-mornings at nearby BBC Radio Manchester.

In addition, weekend breakfast presenter Oli Kemp gets “Hometime” and Helen Sweetland, previously host of Real Radio Wales’ afternoon show takes on weekend breakfast and overnights.

Real Radio North West Programme Controller Kyle Evans told RadioToday.co.uk: “Glen is a great broadcaster and his North West roots have always provided a great connection with the audience. Glen and Lorna have worked together previously on the drivetime show so it’ll be great to reunite them on breakfast. With Oli and Helen taking up new slots in the schedule we’re looking forward to starting 2013 with a fresh but familiar line-up.”

Glen, who has previously worked at MFM, Rock FM and Radio City, told RadioToday.co.uk: “Interestingly, this is the third time in my broadcast career that the breakfast chair has been pulled out for me. I guess it’s about time I sat in it to see what all the fuss is about.”

Sam Walker’s last show will be on Christmas Eve with Glen and Lorna starting breakfast together on January 7th 2013.
