New York Award for GMG Real Radio Wales

Real Radio?s Breakfast crew in Wales are celebrating after picking up a silver award in the prestigious New York Festival Awards, which recognise the best in radio broadcasting across the world.

The show, which has just celebrated its highest ever audience figures and is hosted by presenter Sarah Graham, came second in the category of Best Breakfast Show.

Sarah, News Editor Gareth Setter and Producer Stuart Morgan travelled to New York to collect their award at a gala ceremony at the weekend.

The New York Festivals recognise “The World’s Best Work” in radio programming and promotion. Entries are judged by panels of radio experts from stations and companies throughout the world on their production values, organisation, presentation of information, creativity and use of the medium.

Sarah Graham said: ?We are gobsmacked! To be rewarded in this way for doing something you love is brilliant. Apart from getting up before the sun it really doesn?t feel like work. To be recognised on a world stage is brilliant.?

Station Managing Director Andy Carter said: ?This is a fantastic result. We were the only UK radio station to be nominated, which is an achievement in itself, but to be up there in the top two is a real credit to the team.?
