NOW Digital for Derby

Ofcom has awarded the new local DAB digital radio multiplex for Derbyshire to the only applicant, NOW Digital. The consortium is owned by GCap Media plc (72.5%), Sabras Sound Ltd (20%) and Chrysalis Group plc 7.5%.

Eight commercial services will commence within 12 months, along with BBC Radio Derby.

Stations on the multiplex are Ram FM, Classic Gold 945, Xfm, Heart 106, Galaxy, Smooth Radio, Peak FM and UCB UK. Ofcom estimates that this licence could achieve coverage of an area with an adult (aged 15+) population of around 846,500.
