Online beauty editor for Heart

Global Radio have appointed Kate Shapland to edit the beauty and cosmetics area of their Heart website.

The group says the sector is a key area for expansion this year, and intends to launch a new Heart Beauty listener panel too.

Kate will start work for Global this month, and will help to build and extend beauty content for the site over the next few months. She's is already Beauty Editor of The Telegraph Magazine, the Beauty Club of Debenhams.com, Guest Editor of The Leg Room blog and winner of the 2010 CEW Achiever Award. She will be creating editorial such as a weekly feature 'The Power of 5' highlighting the top five products that listeners need to know about that week, together with tutorials on achieving celebrity looks, taking inspiration from the red carpet in order to engage users further into this area.

This will be complemented by the launch of the Heart Beauty listener panel offering clients insight and copy testing opportunities to drive the connection between Heart and the sector and to maximise the potential of the medium

Kate says: "I'm so chuffed with my new role. Making Heart.co.uk a destination for beauty is a challenge I’ll relish – I’ll be sprinkling something very special over the site."

Caroline Neville, CEW UK President: "Kate is a respected name in the beauty industry and was chosen to receive a CEW (UK) Achiever’s Award last year, so we are delighted that she is working with Heart to develop their cosmetic credentials. We have enjoyed working with Heart and Global for the past three years and have seen at first hand their commitment to the beauty industry and their desire to make radio the voice of beauty. We believe that Kate will be instrumental in driving this ambition forward."
