Oxford gets Glee FM on 107.9

A new radio station has launched in Oxford, taking over from troubled student station FM107.9.

Glee FM, which commenced broadcasting at 9am, is targeting under 30’s women and will play only songs from the hit show.

A station launched on the frequency 11 years ago, Oxygen, and was later re-branded to Fusion, Passion and most recently FM107.9 under current owners.

A request to change to format to serve over 45 year olds was refused by Ofcom, but since competitor Heart Oxford left town, a new proposal has been agreed on.

The station is co-located with JACK fm, and rumours before the launch suggested the new station would be called Jill FM. How long the station will last is yet to be seen.
