Dublin's newest radio station has launched on 100.3 and 100.5 FM at 1pm on Wednesday September 1st.
Radio Nova, named after the 80s pirate, has been licenced by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland to play classic rock music across the city.
The station started with a high profile Guns N' Roses tribute band playing from a barge in the middle of the River Liffey, the main river which bisects the city – which locals thought were the real deal thanks to the band playing in the city the same night.
The presenter include Pat Courtenay, who has returned to Irish radio after an absence of 12 years. He was formerly with 98FM but left in controversial circumstances. He was also a voice on the '80s Nova. Greg Gaughren (who was also with the original Nova) is also on board.

GMG Radio was one of the [link=https://radiotoday.co.uk/news.php?extend.3442]bidders[/link] wanting to extend their current rock stations in Glasgow, Scotland, and Manchester, England.
