Skillset offers Route into Radio

The first ever Skillset national conference dedicated to radio is set to take place in Brighton on February 23rd 2009, and will be hosted by Gold and Planet Rock presenter David Jensen.

The conference will explore how the radio industry can survive and thrive in an ever changing media landscape; the need to diversify approaches to radio training and education and raise the importance of continued professional development. Tuning In will showcase the successful Skillset Route into Radio pilot project.
Sonita Alleyne OBE has recently been appointed Chair of the new Radio Skills Council, the industry steering group that advises and guides Skillset’s work in radio. Alleyne says: “This conference gives the radio industry an opportunity to get together and commit some time to a subject that often gets overlooked – the radio workforce.
"A well-trained, multi-skilled, and creative workforce with a diverse set of backgrounds, experience and knowledge will support the progress of radio into
and through the digital age."
Guest speakers so far include Robin Blake from Ofcom, Chris Lawson, Brand Director of Absolute Radio, John Ryan of BBC Radio Manchester and Trevor Dann, Director of the Radio Academy.
The event is supported by RadioToday.co.uk and the Radio Academy. For more information and to book tickets, visit [link=http://www.skillset.org/tuningin]skillset.org/tuningin[/link]
