Splash FM hosts Bucks Fizz

Splash FM’s seventh annual concert in Worthing’s Steyne Gardens played host to the Eurovision 1980’s chart toppers Bucks Fizz at the weekend, watched by 10,000 people.

The group, still featuring the original line up of Mike Nolan, Cheryl Baker and Shelley Preston headlined the night on the 44 foot stage to a huge family audience. In between belting out their familiar hits “Making your Mind up” and “ Land of Make Believe” Cheryl Baker told the audience she had never imagined a local radio station could bring out such a massive audience.
Splash FM’s operations director David Cunningham, said: “It was one of our best concerts for years helped by some fantastic weather – we worked with Shoreham based Purple Audio for the first time this year and the sound system and lighting were the best ever “
It was great to see families here for the whole evening with people getting their places by late afternoon its what Splash FM is all about “
The Worthing Lions, who organize the town’s festival raised over £1200 from a collection from the concert audience alone.
Splash FM presenter’s Dave Hunt, Pete McIntosh and Anna B hosted the event with Worthing getting to meet, for the first time, Splash FM’s new programme controlller Paul Williams who takes over mid mornings on the station. Paul also heads up the team on Media Sound Holding’s sister station Bright FM who are now co located in the Worthing studios.
