Talk 107 boss Gillespie quits

UTV Radio's station director at Talk 107 is standing down to launch a new online media business. Peter Gillespie has been in charge at the station for over two years, and will be replaced by group customer service director Matthew Allit.

On his appointment as talk107, station director, Allitt said: “I’m looking forward to continuing the good work the team have done at talk107 since the station’s inception.

“It’s an exciting and pioneering project and I’m delighted to be in the thick of it. Being the only local commercial speech radio station outside of London, I see this job as being arguably not only one of the biggest in UTV Radio, but in the UK commercial radio industry.”

On Allitt’s appointment, Chris Hurst, UTV Radio (GB), group managing director ILR’s, said: “Matt will do a great job at talk107. He’s someone who will grasp the baton and run with it. I have every confidence that he will continue to drive the station forward.”

Matt Allitt has headed other UTV stations in Liverpool, Blackpool and Wigan and will run the station once Gillespie leaves at the end of the year.
