Unique countdown for Radio 2

A music chart complied by PPL has been broadcast on BBC Radio 2, revealing that Madonna was the artist whose recordings have been played in public in the UK more than any other in the past 10 years.

It included, but wasn't limited, to radio airplay.

The People's Artist Chart, which aired on Radio 2 on Bank Holiday Monday was presented by comic Patrick Kielty and produced by Paul Sexton at Wise Buddah.

The Beatles took second place, with Robbie Williams at No. 3, Queen at No. 4 and Take That at No. 5.

Lewis Carnie, Head of Programmes Radio 2 and 6 Music, says: "This chart reflects Madonna's continuing popularity and the enduring appeal of The Beatles, and offers Radio 2 listeners three hours of music from a broad mix of artists from across the decades."
