Brunel FM confirms top appointment

Brunel FM has announced who will launch and manage Swindon?s newest radio station when it makes its debut later in the year. The music led station (formerly known as Now FM) which features hits of the last 4 decades, news and information – won the 12 year FM commercial radio licence from the industry regulator Ofcom in September against stiff competition.

Brunel FM has appointed its first Station Manager to spearhead the project. 33 year old Martin Mumford moved to Swindon in mid ? January and now has the challenging task of building and developing the radio station.

Martin has considerable experience in Independent Local Radio which includes masterminding the highly successful launch of Rugby FM. His most recent appointment was as Group Commercial Director of The Radio Pembrokeshire Group which owns award winning Radio Pembrokeshire.

?We are very fortunate to have Martin in Swindon?, says Brunel FM Chairman David Latham. ?Quite simply he is one of the most sought after guys in Commercial Radio ? having gained a first class reputation in terms of audience and sales for Rugby FM and more recently for generating revenue at Radio Pembrokeshire.?

Martin agreed to join the Brunel FM management team in Swindon because he saw the potential of a new dedicated service for the area. He knows the town quite well and has relatives living nearby.

?I am thrilled to be here ! I believe Swindon needs and deserves a new radio station – listeners and advertisers alike are crying out for this service in the town. I want an exciting new sound for Swindon which local people turn to for great entertainment and news. Importantly, Brunel FM must be at the heart of the local community.?

Martin appreciates that for Brunel FM to succeed the station must concentrate on local people and places.

?It?s important that we reflect what is happening in Swindon and feature some of the flavour and personalities of the town.?

Brunel FM will announce further launch details in due course including location of the new modern studio complex and the all important frequency. Brunel FM is recruiting new broadcasting and sales staff in the near future.
