  • 6 Music’s Long Weekend on 6 Music

    August 28, 2017 from 7:00 am - 12:00 am

BBC Radio 6 Music’s Long Weekend will see presenters from across the weekend schedule taking over for the day.

Craig Charles (7am-10am) kicks off and delivers his trunk of funk to listeners across the breakfast table. From pick-me-up Philadelphia soul to leap-out-of-bed Motown stompers, Craig brings his finest musical choices, as well as all the latest releases from the 6 Music playlist.

Cerys Matthews (10am-1pm) brings the Sunday vibes to Monday with timeless tunes that span the genres and decades: from early bluesmen to soulful singers, superlative soundtracks, world music and brand new finds. Ever fond of a fact, and the gems to be found in the BBC Archive, Cerys will also open the door to the Curiosity Shop.

Elbow frontman Guy Garvey (1pm-4pm) continues 6 Music’s Long Weekend by bringing three hours of his finest music to the listeners, and Huey Morgan (4 - 7pm) from the Fun Lovin' Criminals has all his usual mix of funk, punk, soul, rock and hip hop.

In Don Letts’ Culture Clash Radio (7pm-9pm) Don makes music selections that cross time, space and genre - mixing his favourite new music with classics from around the world. Today he highlights a cherished album from his own collection, Horace Andy’s Skylarking, released in 1972.

Finally, Gideon Coe (9pm-midnight) brings the Long Weekend to a close with a soundsystem special, in which he brings listeners one hour of jangle, one hour of dub and one hour of ambient sounds.
