Compass sends kids back to ?50s

Compass FM has been busy helping local school children get to grips with radio 1950s style!

The radio station has been helping pupils from William Barcroft Junior School for several months as they study the 1950s and prepare to fill an hour of the forthcoming Youth Coast Radio project.

Over the last few months Richard Lyon, Breakfast Show presenter at Compass FM, has given up his time to help the children prepare their show; from putting a running order together through to directing voice sessions as well as recording the launch sequence and the commercials which will be aired in the 1950s style hour.

Last week 10 students visited the station to record their commercials for Butlins and Spangles.

Coast Youth Radio is an educational focused radio station which will be on air on 87.7FM in North East Lincolnshire over Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st March. William Barcroft Junior School will be on air between 11am and noon on 21st March.

?It was great fun being able to help the kids with their studies and I feel they?ve learnt a lot about how radio works and what it can achieve,? said Richard. ?I think the commercials they have produced are really good and if commercial radio had been around at the time, then these products would have certainly sold well.?
