Lizz Loxam joins Radio Berkshire

BBC Radio Berkshire has appointed Lizz Loxam as Acting Editor while current Editor, Marianne Bell, is on a year?s maternity leave. Lizz will join the station in May.

Lizz is a highly experienced BBC producer, manager and editor. She is passionate about local radio and Berkshire in particular and is keen on community projects.

One of her ideas was the now successful and established BBC News and Sports on Tour – a tour of the UK each year with network and local presenters giving thousands of people the opportunity to learn how to become news and sports presenters.

She is also leading a new project – Making It! – which on Monday 13 March will see 15 members of the public from the South East edit and produce the flagship news programme for the area, South East Today, as well as running BBC Radio Kent’s drive-time programme and online service – all live on air!

Lizz says “I’m passionate about working more closely with audiences, increasingly involving them in how we do what we do – turning ‘outreach’ into ‘output’.

“Local Radio is the ideal place to achieve that, and Berkshire in particular has made exciting radio in partnership with the diverse communities who live there.

“I’m looking forward to building on that track record with the excellent team working there.”

Her current role is Elections Results Editor/Executive Producer with BBC News.

Her career in radio and television is vast – programmes have taken her from the Highlands in Scotland to Radio Five Live, to BBC Sport and BBC Education.
