New boss at Radio Shropshire

Tim Beech has been appointed as the new Managing Editor of BBC Radio Shropshire. He joins the station from BBC Radio Stoke, where he has been Assistant Editor for the past three years.

He started out his broadcasting career in commercial radio before moving to BBC WM in 1989 as a Broadcast Journalist. From there he became Sports Editor at the station, a position he held for eight years.

Tim says: “I’m excited about my new position at BBC Radio Shropshire. It’s a great privilege to have the chance to work at such a successful local radio station.

“I know how important it is to the lives of people in Shropshire and I look forward to serving them well in the future.”

David Holdsworth, Head of Regional and Local Programming, BBC West Midlands adds: “Tim has vast experience working within local radio and I’m delighted with his appointment at Radio Shropshire. I’m sure he’ll build on the station’s recent successes.”

Tim Beech starts his new role on Tuesday 18 April 2006. The previous editor of Radio Shropshire, Tim Pemberton is now Managing Editor of BBC Radio Bristol.
