The Sony Radio Academy Awards have been handed out at Grosvenor House, Park Lane in London. Paul Gambaccini hosted the event which was attended by radio industry professionals from around the UK.
In the commercial sector, a fantastic night for Emap’s Kerrang! 105.2 as they take home no fewer than four Gold awards – Chris Moyles won his first Gold after 16 years of broadcasting for The Entertainment Award – BBC Radio 1 won Station of the Year – Zane Lowe took home two Gold awards and BBC Radio News Teams cleared up in a range of news awards.
The 2006 nominations were selected from over 1400 entries across all sectors of UK radio, and caused much surprise and excitement, as new faces from local and commercial radio pipped more established names to secure those sought after nominations.
