All Out celebrates BBC contract

Multi-award winning radio indie All Out Productions is celebrating its biggest ever series of commissions for BBC Radio 1. This follows the company?s first ever commission to produce audio content for Channel 4 Radio.

The Manchester-based indie has been commissioned to produce six new half-hour documentary programmes, five to be broadcast during Steve Lamacq?s Lamacq Live show starting from the 24th of July, and one during the station?s hugely successful Sunday Surgery later this year.

In Access Denied (1 x 30?) Steve Lamacq investigates how the disabled are catered for by some of the UK?s most notable clubs, festivals and venues. In addition, Make Some Noise (1 x 30?) presented by Rob Da Bank, takes a nostalgic look at the unlicensed rave scene of the ?80s and ?90s and its unlikely resurgence in post-communist Eastern Europe. Focussing on the sensitive anxiety disorders often suffered by teenagers and young adults, Inner Turmoil (1 x 30?) will talk to the victims of OCD and paranoia and explore how some of UK?s most successful artists have overcome their problems.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the release of their first single, Fight the Power (1 x 30?) charts the success of ?80s political rap outfit, Public Enemy, featuring exclusive interview footage with the multi-million selling band themselves. Finally, Running Scared (1 x 30?) will take an in-depth look at working in the music industry, and how to get a foot in the door with some of the World?s top record labels.

Finally, in the light of recent media reports, The Not So Beautiful Game (1 x 30?) explores homophobia in our nation?s favourite sport through the eyes of young people, and how the stigma attached to sexual preference could affect their chances on the pitch.

David Cook, Managing Director of All Out Productions, says, ?We are thrilled with securing our biggest raft of commissions. As a station praised for its creative content, we are excited to be involved in providing an intelligent yet sensitive edge to some of the UK?s hottest topics.?

Access Denied is produced by Jo Meek, Running Scared is produced by Paul Gillmore, both from All Out Productions. Make Some Noise, Inner Turmoil, Fight the Power and The Not So Beautiful Game are all produced by Peter Sale for All Out Productions.
