Emap Submits CityTalk Bid

As reported by Radiojam last month, Emap Radio will be bidding for the new Liverpool FM licence with CityTalk. Described as “an exciting new all-speech radio format”, CityTalk aims to move away from phone-in based output, instead concentrating on news, sports, current affairs, comedy and local issues.

The licence is the first to be advertised since Crash FM began broadcasting in 1998, although Ofcom estimates the licence will be substantially larger, broadcasting to an expected adult audience of 1.5 million. The closing date for applications is today, with details of all bids made available later on Ofcom’s website.
